Close...

I almost got these signs done today! There's very little yet to go. Most people wouldn't even notice the things I'm seeing that still need work. I'm usually my own worst critic. I have to remember "It's Progress not Perfection!" and God has the plan. As long as I do my best at any given moment.

The Other One

This is how far along I got with the other panel. It's about 2/3rds done. They'll both get done today if all goes well. Aloha.

Doing My Best

One of the signs came a lot closer to being finished yesterday than the other one. Today will be the last workday for these two. I have way too much time in them now for what I'm getting. They are going up in a good location though, so I may get some advertising out of it as well. I need to figure out a way to generate some more income. I'm getting too far behind again. Teaching some aspects of what I've been doing comes to mind...I just need some help organising all the promotion, etc. "There just aren't enough hours in a day" is one of my excuses for not getting it done myself. I suppose I'm doing the best I can at any given moment. I just never seem to be able to manage it all and make everything happen that I know would make the difference in my prosperity. I'm a good painter, but a terrible bookkeeper for instance. Oh well... I do enjoy life and have faith that Akua knows what I need better than I do. Mahalo & Aloha, Timo

Slow, but Sure

I'm making slow progress on these signs...too many distractions yesterday though. And not enough energy after I got home from my show. Maybe it'll go better today. I'm working on Charlene & Bear's portrait alternately with these too so... I suppose it's good progress, considering. They'll be very nice when they're finished. Well...back to work. Aloha

Commercial Art

Not too often these days, but occasionally I am asked to paint a sign or two by someone that knows I used to do that for a big portion of my income. I'm working on a pair of large plywood faces currently for a friend in Guerneville that restores old travel trailers. The lettering is done(I think) and I've started doing the illustrations. A different one on each of the two panels. So they are taking a bit more time to do. They will be used back to back in an existing metel frame hung perpendicular from the outside wall of his building. Hopefully I'll be able to finish them soon(today?) and get back to Charleen & Bear's portrait. Aloha All, Timo

A few more strokes

A bit more progress on the journey toward a good likeness of Charlene and her dog Bear.

Charlene & Bear

After about 4 days of painting on Char & Bear's portrait I remembered to take a photo of it. So You didn't get to see the first strokes, but I'll try to do better in the future! You can see the photo I'm using for reference in this picture. The closeup shows how loose it is still. Well...back to work. Aloha, Timo

Back on Line.

My computer decided to keep things to itself for the last week. Don't ask me how these things happen. My "Expert" computer guy finally got me back on line, but it took 12 minutes to get my new picture to finish downloading this time. Instead of the normal 1 or 2. Some progress on the portrait of Eddie & Vina this week...although not as much as I would have liked. I've started another double portrait of an old friend and her dog from a photo her sister sent me. More on that to come. Aloha, Timo

A Bit More...

I decided to paint just a tiny bit more on the vertical view seascape that I haven't titled yet. I think it's finally done. Not really very different than it was before I touched it again with some pure cadmium yellow. Just enough to satify my sense of completion. Sometimes I'll go back into a new painting several times before I'm satisfied with all of it. The hardest part of creating a new piece of art is coming up with a good title that I haven't used before. I'll think of something. It'll just take me awhile. Aloha, Timo

Getting There..

Another good session with pallette and brush on the portrait of Eddie & Vina.
