New project

I began a new project recently for an old friend, that will be a painting of an old guy named Moki Kau from a black and white photograph that he took when he was living in Lahaina, Maui in the early sixties. I've had an 8x10 print of it that he traded to me way back then, but he's since misplaced the negative of it and decided to have me do this colored rendition to hang in the Waialua beach house on Molokai. I'm going to start filling in the scene around him today. He was sitting in front of the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina when my friend took this shot of him.

Mahalo for checking in.

"Buster & Lexi"

I finally finished the double dog portrait that has been the main project on the easle for quite some time. There were 2 reference photos used for this painting; the one taken indoors of the dogs and the one outdoors of their favorite dogpark in Scottsdale. There was close to 100 hours of painting involved in completing this portrait. I'm glad it's done.
